The list has a few interesting facts and insight into the artistes' success.
Topping the list of richest reggae artistes is Shaggy.
According to Urban Islandz, Shaggy's 2001 album 'Hot shot' sold more than 20 million copies worldwide making him one of music's top selling artistes.
His net worth is a whopping US$22 million.
Veteran singer Jimmy Cliff is in second place with a net worth of US$18 million.
Though the data collected was limited, 'The Harder They Come' star is said to be the second most iconic person in reggae music.
This year he was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In third place is dancehall artiste Sean Paul with a net worth estimated at US$11 million after his 'Dutty Rock' album sold more than six million copies.
Fourth goes to Ziggy Marley, who is estimated to be worth US$10 million.
Ziggy's Grammy award winning album 'Love Is My Religion' sold millions of copies worldwide.
Junior Gong, Buju, Beenie & Bounty make the list
In fifth place is Sean Kingston whose net worth is US$7 million.
His popularity and riches started with his 2007 hit 'Beautiful Girls'.
The sixth richest reggae artiste is Damion "Junior Gong" Marley with a net worth of US$6 million while in seventh place is reggae crooner Maxi Priest, whose net worth is estimated at US$4.6 million.
Priest has been recording since the mid eighties.
The embattled Buju Banton is in eighth place with a net worth of US$4 million.
At one point he was even known as the richest reggae artiste alive but lost ground after his run in with the gay community.
King of the dancehall Beenie Man is the ninth richest reggae/dancehall artiste with a net worth of US$3.7 million and rounding off the top ten is veteran deejay Bounty Killa who boasts a net worth of US$3 million after years of work in the music industry.
Bob Marley richest dead reggae artiste
However, despite their riches, the now deceased king of reggae Bob Marley is named as the all time richest reggae musician of all times.
Though deceased, he is still richer than all the artistes on the list combined.
Bob Marley is also down in history as one of the richest dead celebrities.
Jay-Z Scores Most Ever BET Hip-Hop Awards Nominations
Jay-Z is nominated for Lyricist of the Year, Best Live Performer, Track of the Year and Perfect Combo awards, based on his hit single "Empire State of Mind," as well as his album Blueprint 3.
Young Money poses the most serious threat for awards to Jay-Z, as Drake and Nicki Minaj have scored eight and six nominations.
Lil Wayne, Eminem, Busta Rhymes, B.O.B., Rick Ross, Waka Flocka Flame, Gucci Mane, Diddy, J. Cole, AllHipHop.com and others were also nominated for awards this year.
The Fifth Annual BET Hip-Hop Awards, which will be hosted by Mike Epps, will be taped October 2nd at the Boisfeuillet Atlanta Civic Center.
The show will be broadcast on BET on October 12th.

Rapper T.I. arrested and Preparing for Jail
Rapper T.I. and his wife were arrested on drug possession charges after sheriff's deputies smelled marijuana coming from their vehicle during a traffic stop.
Sheriff's deputies pulled over the Atlanta-based rapper, Clifford Harris, 29, and his 36-year-old wife, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, about 10:30 p.m. at 9255 Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood.
"During the course of the traffic stop, deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle," L.A. County sheriff's officials said in a statement.
"A narcotics investigation ensued," during which T.I. and his wife "were found to be in possession of a controlled substance," the statement read.
They were taken to the West Hollywood sheriff’s station and booked on drug possession charges.
Sheriff's officials did not specify why the two had been pulled over and what specific drug they were alleged to have.
While nothing is set in stone a person close to the family say both are making preparations to GO TO JAIL . . . for an EXTENDED TIME!!!
The insider explained, “At first I though they were just making plans ‘in case’ they both [got locked up]. But no, they’re acting like they’re both going away.”

Paris Hilton to avoid felony Conviction
Paris Hilton has agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanors stemming from her arrest last month at a Las Vegas resort.Under the terms of a plea deal worked out with prosecutors, the celebrity heiress will serve a year of probation and avoid a felony conviction.
Hilton plead guilty to drug possession and obstructing an officer. She must complete a drug abuse program, pay a $2,000 fine and serve 200 hours of community service.
If she is arrested for anything besides a minor traffic violation she will spend a year in jail, there will be no discussion. The court will have no discretion.
She was scheduled to make an in-store appearance in Tokyo Wednesday, but that's in jeopardy after she was detained upon landing at Japan's Narita Airport...
Hilton's rep confirms that immigration officials detained Paris upon arrival. Anyone on a suspended jail term (such as Hilton) is not allowed to enter Japan except for "special reasons," the Narita branch of the Tokyo immigration control office told local news agency Jiji.
Hilton's travel was not restricted as part of her drug sentence, according to the Las Vegas D.A.

Reggae star Buju Banton faces drug trial in Fla.
MIAMI – On his upcoming album "Before the Dawn," Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton crows about standing strong, though battered and bruised, in the face of a gathering darkness.
The songs sound prophetic — the four-time Grammy nominee recorded them before he was arrested on federal cocaine charges last December.
A U.S. government informant testfied today that the Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton introduced him to a friend who the musician said had contacts to sell kilograms of cocaine.
Recordings of phone calls and other conversations between Banton and the informant, Alexander Johnson, were also played in Court Today.
Johnson testified that Banton introduced him to Ian Thomas. Thomas pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine. He faces up to life in prison.

Lady Gaga takes on John McCain over ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’
Early Friday morning, Gaga posted a message on YouTube urging the repeal of DADT. In it, she calls out McCain, as well as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Sen. Jim Inhofe, a Republican from Oklahoma who opposes the repeal.
