Winners at 2011 BET Awards

Chris Brown was the biggest winner at Sunday night's 2011 BET Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in LA. Chris Brown took home an award for Best Male R&B Artist, the BET Viewers' Choice Award and one for Best Collaboration for his track "Look at Me Now", with Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes.


Other winners were Nicki Minaj who took home the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, while Mary Mary won Best Gospel Album award. Patti LaBelle was also presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Gladys Knight.

Sean Kingston Out of Hospital

  Pop singer Sean Kingston has been released from the Jackson Memorial Hospital, after his Memorial Day weekend crash in Miami Beach. MTV News has reported that they have received confirmation from one of his representatives that he is in fact out of the hospital. He tweeted the above picture of himself last week thanking fans for all their love, prayers and support and on Friday he tweeted that he was hanging out with Soulja Boy

Buju Sentenced to 10 Years

Reggae star Buju Banton has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was found guilty in a Florida Court of conspiracy, drug trafficking and a gun charge all related to a cocaine deal with a DEA informant.

Buju Banton was sentenced by U.S. District Judge James Moody to the minimum sentence allowed and threw out the gun charge because of insufficient evidence. Banton's attorney David Markus has requested that the Grammy-winning singer serve out his time in a prison near Miami in order to be close to his family. He also said he would appeal and vowed he would fight on as long as Banton wanted him to.

Banton was busted by an informant working for the Drug Enforcement Administration in 2009. The singer told the informant he could broker cocaine, though he later testified that he was just boasting. Nevertheless, video and audio recordings convinced the jury that he was guilty.

Mavericks Beat Miami Heat for the NBA Title

The Dallas Mavericks won game 6 of the NBA finals in Miami to win the NBA title last night. It was only the teams second home loss in the entire post season but it was enough to hand the title to the Mavericks. Lebron James ended with 21 points, but we all had visions of him scoring over 40 points after the hot start he had hitting his first 4 shots. Last night Lebron tweeted: "The Greater Man upstairs know when it's my time. Right now isn't the time." and in Miami we are all praying that it will be next year.
Congratulation to the Dallas Mavericks for a deserved victory, they fought hard and have been waiting a long time for this. Miami have a lot of time to pull things together and figure it out

Flo Rida Arrested

South Florida rapper Flo Rida has hit a low this week after he was arrested early Wednesday morning in Miami Beach.  Miami Beach police pulled over the  rapper's 2008 Bugatti at 4 a.m after it swerved erratically several times.

Police administered a field sobriety test on the rapper who reportedly said; “Officer, I can’t do this,” and  “I can’t walk a straight line. I had a few drinks.”
Officers took Flo Rida to the Miami Beach Police Department where his alcohol level was recorded at at 0.185 which is more than double the legal limit.

He was subsequently charged with driving under the influence and driving with a suspended driver’s license

Wade Leads Heat to Game 3 Win

Dwayne Wade led the Miami Heat to a win in the all important game 3 of the finals. The Game 3 winner in a tied finals has won the championship all 11 times since 1985, so if history is any indicator, the NBA title is coming to Miami. D-Wade led the scoring for Miami putting up 29 points and following it up with 11 rebounds. 

The Mavs tied the game late, but Bosh hit he winning shot with 39 seconds left, and Miami's great defense held off the Mavericks
